CNG Tanks are very strong and safe. They are available in different types and pressure ratings. They all must be DOT certified if installed in a Vehicle. All CNG tanks have a 225% safety factor. All CNG tanks have tank valves which have a PRD (Pressure Release Device) which will vent the tank if the pressure reaches about 4,500 psi or if the PRD is heated. The PRD prevents CNG tanks from excessive pressure or heat keeping the tank very safe.
 
We have many CNG tanks and tank mounting brackets. The mounting brackets are sized to fit tanks with the same diameter. Our tank mounting brackets are shipped for free when ordered with the tank. You can use more than one tank to get a longer driving range.

You will have to measure your vehicle and order the tanks that best fit your vehicle. We cannot select tanks for you.   If you are using our 3,000 PSI tanks, make sure you use the correct 3,000 psi fill nozzle and use the correct 3,000 psi filling station.

If you purchase both our kits and our tanks, the adapter fittings needed to connect our tubing to the tanks are included for free. You will need to purchase the proper adapter fittings and plug fittings for your tank valve if you purchase a tank or kit separately. You will need to know what thread your tank valve has to purchase the proper fittings. If a CNG tank is installed in the trunk or inside a vehicle you must vent the PRD with metal tubing, and bag and vent all fittings from the neck of the tank to the vent fitting.  The vent fitting is installed to the bottom of the vehicle next to the tank valve so any gases will be vented under the vehicle.  The metal tube from the PRD will extend out through the vent fitting.

If you order our type 1 or type 2 tanks and the tanks will be installed inside the vehicle, you will also need to order our vented tank valve and vent and bag kit upgrade Model CNGVBK. If you order our type 3 or type 4 tanks, or other new or used tanks elsewhere, and the tanks will be installed inside the vehicle, you will also need to order our bag kit Model CNGBK and provide a metal vent tube from the PRD and out through the vent fitting. 

CNG Tanks are rated in GGE which is Gallons of Gasoline Equivalent.  The volume of  CNG tanks is about 3 times that of a gasoline tank, so they are larger.  You will need to order the largest tank or tanks that will fit in the area desired.  You may only be able to get about half the range as your gasoline tank.  You can add more tanks, if desired, to increase the range.  The weight of CNG is about 3 lbs per GGE which is less than the weight of a gallon of gasoline.  A good way to compare tanks from different suppliers is to compare the size of the tank in Liters.  The liter rating is how much liquid the tank will hold under no pressure.

There are 4 types of CNG tanks. The features of each type are listed below.

Type 1
Are made of steel, are the lowest cost tanks, but weigh the most. These tanks are very durable and can be installed inside or outside a vehicle. Before ordering, check the weight of the tank to make sure the weight is not too heavy for your vehicle.

Type 2
Made of steel with a composite wrap around the center portion of the tank. They weigh about 20% less and cost more than type 1 tanks. These are a good lower weight but not expensive tank. We do not recommend type 2 tanks for under the vehicle installations as corrosion can get under the wrap.

Type 3
Made with an aluminum liner with a composite wrap covering the entire tank. They weigh less than type 2 tanks, but cost much more. Type 3 tanks are great for installing inside vehicles where a low weight is needed.

Type 4
Made with a plastic liner with a composite wrap covering the entire tank. They are the lowest weight but are the most expensive. They are great where the lowest weight tank in needed. Not recommend for installing inside the vehicle unless the entire tank is bagged and vented as the natural gas odor may permeate out though the tank, causing a slight annoying smell when left overnight.

Read This Before Viewing the Chart below :  All our tanks come with a tank valve.  We have all four types of tanks available.  The tanks are listed by type, then diameter, and then pressure rating.
Our 3,000 psi rated Type 1 and Type 2 tanks have the DOT certification on these tanks with our own label.   They are manufactured overseas for us to our specifications.  They have dual certifications.  They have ISO from the manufacturer and DOT from us, so they have both labels on the tanks.  We are closing out our 3,000 psi tanks at close out prices and will soon only have 3,600 psi tanks.
Our 3,600 psi Type 1 and Type 2 tanks are DOT and NAV-2 certified.
The Type 3 and Type 4 tanks are rated 3,600 psi and are manufactured in the USA.
All the tanks below have a 20 year life from the date of manufacture.  The manufacture date can be up to 2 years old when they are ordered from us, but is usually less than 1 year.

Shipping:  We have low shipping rates. The shipping cost will be quoted and will very depending on where you live and the number of tanks ordered. The shipping cost per tank lowers greatly when ordering multiple tanks.
